X-ray's are basically light rays, but more active. X-ray waves have a shorter wavelength of higher energy, so we can see them. X-ray machines are used for various reasonsThey are able to see through our body and examine almost everything inside. Their main use is to examine bone and muscle damage. Some more advanced x-ray machines can also view body tissue, lungs, blood vessels and your intestines.
CAT(Computed Axial Tomography) Scan's are used to examine the body, like an x-ray. Think of it as an advanced x-ray machine. It is also considered safer since it is not exposing people to radiation like an x-ray machine would. CAT scan's display images of your body to help physicians diagnose any problems and treat medical conditions. CAT scans are commonly used to study chest, abdomen and pelvis conditions because it provides detailed, cross-sectional views of all types of tissue. CAT scans are also used to diagnose different cancers. The image allows the physician to look for tumors and how they are currently affecting the body. CAT scans also help to treat bone and joint problems as well.
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which basically means that this machine uses magnets to view the inside of your body, unlike x-ray machines and CAT scan's. The images that are projected by an MRI are very detailed. MRI's are often used to examine brain trauma, but since it's so detailed, you can practically see everything in your body from an MRI. Just like an x-ray machine and a CAT scan, MRI's are commonly used to diagnose and treat medical conditions.
With modern technology, we have so much help. This is only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many other methods of helping our health. We're lucky to have these. With these machines, we know what's wrong with our bodies and we can do something about it. It helps us learn more about our internal organs, helping us to solve problems like cancer.
